Contact File Training Videos

Today I posted two more Training Videos on our web site, both regarding the new Contact File Upkeep Screen in ZonePro. This completes the series of videos on new features added in the most recent ZonePro upgrade. I've been getting very good feedback on the Training Videos option so if you haven't watched any yet, give one a try.

Security Extended on Document Editor

In the latest release of ZonePro an oversight was corrected concerning security access levels and the Document Editor. If you are using the Security Module you can select an Access Level for the ZP Toolbox Module which determines who can use the Document Editor. Or at least that is what it is supposed to do. In previous versions this setting was ignored if you accessed the Document Editor directly from a report or document screen, and only had an effect if you accessed the Document Editor from the ZP Toolbox menu screen. Now it works the ways it is supposed to regardless of how you access the Document Editor. If you find you suddenly have restricted access to the Document Editor after installing the new release, you should change your security Access Level for the ZP Toolbox setting in the Security Screen in Maintenance Options.

Photo Module Bug Causes Viewer Screen Goof

It appears that the new runtime files are causing an unexpected problem with the Image Viewer Screen in the Photo Module. The problem is that only half of the Image Viewer Screen appears. You can still type in a to close the screen but you can't see the "Close" button. A fix is available in version 2.45 of the Photo Module. If you experience this problem just let us know and we can e-mail you the fix.

Visual FoxPro Reference Library

From time to time we have customers who want to learn more about the programming options within ZonePro. There are numerous places within ZonePro where a knowledge of the programming language is beneficial; for example, when creating fee formulas, advanced filters, or scripts of any kind. On our Tutorials page we've added a link to the Microsoft Visual FoxPro Reference Library. Visual FoxPro is the language used to develop ZonePro. This link specifically references the Function section of the language. There are explanations of useful functions in the Help files that come with ZonePro but the Visual FoxPro Reference Library covers all of the available functions. This is technical information that will be beyond the interest of most ZonePro customers but it is there for those who crave more.

CHM Help Runtime Files

I had several customers report trouble switching to the CHM Help file format, and, of course, they were right. As it turns out there are some special runtime files that must be installed and registered on each PC in order to use the CHM Help file with ZonePro. The runtime files will be shipped with the latest upgrade. I've also placed a download on the Downloads page of our web site so that customers can install those files on their own if they desire. Do help customers more with their switch to the CHM Help files we've added a new Help Troubleshooting Screen to ZonePro that assists with both the registering of the CHM file and the installation of the Help runtime files. I'll post a training video showing how to use the new screen soon.

HLP Help Files In Vista

After many complaints Microsoft did make available the Windows application needed to run HLP help files under Vista. If you are having trouble getting the CHM help file to work with ZonePro under Vista, this is an alternative option. It requires a bit of effort too. First you have to download the file from Microsoft. Here is the link to the Window Help Program. You'll have to jump through a few hoops there. Also, there are two files offered at the download. For most users, the smaller one will do. After you have the file downloaded you have to install it by locating the download and opening it. Next, reboot your PC. The final hurdle is that this option does not work on networked drives so the ZP32.HLP file must he copied to a local folder if you are using ZonePro on a network. Which means you need to use the Help File Options Screen in ZonePro to change the "SET HELP TO ZP32.HLP" statement to say "SET HELP TO C:\MYAPPS\ZP32.HLP", for example.
